In the last couple of years I have picked up a new passion, paddle boarding.
I have always loved the water. My parents use to call me a fish. I could be in the pool from morning till evening if my mom had let me. There is just something about being in the water or hearing it that is calming and peaceful.
There are beautiful places to paddle board near our home in Oregon and many of them aren't too far from where we lived. This made it so much easier to get out and paddle.
Before owning paddle boards Marissa and I would load up our Hawaii inner tubes and float at Hagg Lake. We would float and chat for hours. I loved our floating days.
Now we own two paddle boards and don't have to rely on our inner tubes. We look a little more like grown ups. But we live in a new area and had to search for places to paddle. We have a lot of waterways, but many aren't open to swimming, paddling or kayaking. Last summer the girls and I ventured out on the Potomac, but it isn't exactly the cleanest river or super close.
The girls found us a place in Annapolis and it was wonderful.
Quiet Waters Park is along the South River and a beautiful place to relax. We were surrounded by incredible homes with stunning landscaping, open waters, forested hills, cranes and hawks.
There were other paddle boarders, kayakers and kids out swimming which gave us more confidence that this was a great place to be. It was lovely.
Now that my knee is mostly healed we can head back out on the river. Holly got up to standing on our last adventure, now it is my turn.
Doing anything or even nothing with the girls is always fun, but being on the water together is one of my favorite activities.
